Industrial history and modern living come together at the Maria Juchacz retirement home in Mittweida: The new building (2019) was constructed on the site of the former laundry union founded in 1828. Its clinker brick-look facade is a deliberate reminder of the venerable factory’s past. The senior citizens’ home combines barrier-free living and housing for the elderly, day care and medical care under one roof. The four-story building has 34 modern apartments with loggia or terrace on three floors. With the S 9000 window system in acrylcolor 7016 (anthracite gray), the senior citizens’ house is modern in appearance and at the same time comfortable to live in – because even in its barrier-free version, S 9000 achieves top impermeability values against wind and rain.
